Here’s some food for thought on the day that the Republican Administration will present its State of the Union Speech. I ran across this article on Huffington Post and you can find it here. Suffice it to say, it was disturbing but not surprising. The article states that 62 people own more wealth than the poorest 3.7 billion, yes friends that is billion with a B. There are approximately 7.3 billion people on the planet. I’ll let you do the math on that. It should also not surprise you that a recent article by the Institute for Policy studies stated that 3 people, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Warren Buffet own more wealth than approximately 178 million people, and you can find the link to that report here. I say this because the current Republican administration is trying to enact “tax reform”, I’ll call it theft, which will redistribute an addition 1.5 trillion, yes that is trillion with a T, upward to the richest 1 percent which already own pretty much half of everything in this country if not more. The non partisan CBO says that this tax bill will add an additional 1.5 Trillion dollars to the deficit. Sit on that and ruminate while you watch the Occupant give that speech. Think about that as your health insurance is taken away or made so expensive you can’t afford it. Think about that as you are suffering from breathing related issues, or being poisoned by the water you’re drinking because environmental safeguards are being gutted. Think about that while we continue to spend even more money on weapons of destruction. Think about it as your jobs are being shipped off to foreign countries with cheap labor, and generous tax laws for the already wealthy or even simply replaced by automation to reduce “labor costs.” Think about that as we slip further and further into a police state where they are not held accountable for their violence against its citizens. Think about that while they continue to pit us one against another. That’s just the money side of it; we haven’t even got into the allegations of Russian Interference in our last election, racial inequalities, xenophobia, homophobia, or just the general dysfunction of the political process.
Think, pray, meditate, do whatever it is you do, to make sense of this and get back to me on how we can justify any of this Administration’s actions or policies.
